Finding the Time!

Whilst I am no longer promoting myself as a professional photographer and doing any paid work, I am always open to any portraiture and wedding requests.

This year, I'll be concentrating on my own personal photographic projects..if and when I get the time! :)

I have learned so much taking family portraits, visiting events and birthday parties in the last few years, but alas..they don't pay well and there is no way that I could have any sort of regular wage coming in from them...in fact, they have cost me money from my own pocket on several recent shoots.

I am finally going to make a motivational burst to photograph a series of normal "non model" people in locations with off-camera lighting and utilising landscape techniques.

I will be posting on Facebook for any volunteers and will be looking to shoot throughout the year. Hopefully I'll manage to get a fair collection.

Until the next post then..have a fantastic Christmas and an inspirational New Year! :)

Finishing current work

I am currently working on the 75th Birthday Party I attended in Luton on 14th August. Although we agreed that there would be some delay due to my current workload at Virgin Media, I will be finishing every photo within the next few days. My sincere apologies for any delay with these, but I have put in alot of work to each photo as the background in the restaurant wasn't ideal, and a new one had to be slotted in ;)
It was a great day..one which actually brought a tear to my eye. A surprise 75th Birthday Party. Superb.

Planning to Plan and then some..

Today begins the 2 week plan to up my photography site, skillsets and "business".

Over the next week or so, I will begin to contact people who have shown an interest in having their family portraits done, book them in and get them done! I have a few select locations that I think are particularly suited to family portraits, but I am more than happy visiting people's homes. I set up the background and the off-camera flash and get to it. If they have a back garden or somewhere with a bit of greenery, then better still.
I'll also be pushing for a few Wedding bookings for next year. That means pushing the online advertising, wedding fayres, wedding shops and perhaps an advertisement in one of the magazines.

So, if you fancy having your portrait done, either family or other, then please get in touch and we can set up a date :)

Directions, motivation and coffee.

Trying to juggle a potential business and your every day job is extremely difficult. The difficulty lies in the execution of ideas that you had in a fleeting moment that you didn't have the time, the means or indeed, the motivation to write down and save until you had a minute to kick-start the idea into something that could potentially transform your future...

Slightly melodramatic perhaps? Possibly, but how many times have those ideas and plans actually get put into action?
Well, today is a new start. I had an idea about a blog. About building up the blocks of a potential Photography Business and implementing social networking and advertising to push forward Simon Graham Photography.

Hmm..all well and good perhaps, but what to post...and how to make it entertaining and educational to read?

Next stage - planning and preparation a mass of ideas ready to be given a chance to sprout, grow and hopefully blossom.

One thing though, you can be sure that I have started this blog and intend to continue it. There will be discussions on the making of a photograph, exploring different photography shoots and easy to follow technical aids to help you take a photo that is in focus, exposed and interesting, and hopefully, learn something as I learn something :)
